She was a devoted homemaker until she went to work for Gottschalks as supervisor of the fabrics and notions department, where her eye for detail and love for people truly shined. She was an excellent seamstress. She later went to work for Benefit Administration until she retired.
Nora and her husband Ron loved boating, auto racing, and camping. They spent many summers up at Wishon Village. They also loved going to car shows, with Reno and Pismo Beach being their favorites.
Nora loved playing the slot machines, and she loved sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery. She enjoyed life to the fullest and cherished time with her family and friends.
Nora was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Paul Cox, her husband, Ronald Halvorson, her sister, Mona Jenkins, and her brother, Dennis Turner. She is survived by her daughters; Paula Scott (Mike), Cheryl Bohall, Lois Lomier (Rusty), and Susan Pombo (Tony). She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, cousins, and other friends and family who all love her dearly.
The family would like to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, a very special woman whom Nora called her fifth daughter, Mireya (Rosa) Michel, for all of the love and care she gave to Nora over the years. She loved her so much, and she truly was the family's angel.
They would also like to thank Hoffman Hospice of Bakersfield, California for helping in Nora's final days.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Fresno Memorial Gardens, located at 175 S Cornelia Avenue, Fresno, California, at 11:00am.
