Norman was born on May 18, 1944, in Fresno, California, to Walter and Elsie Allington. He was a lifelong resident of Fresno County, living in Firebaugh and Fresno, and graduated from Bullard High School with the Class of 1962.
A hardworking entrepreneur, Norm and his wife, Juanita, opened Swim Suits West together in 1988, and he continued the business after her death in 1990 until he retired in 2021. Through his dedication, integrity, and commitment to serving the swimming community, he built not only a successful small business but also lasting relationships with coaches, swimmers, and families.
Norm is survived by his brother, Marshall Allington; his son, Keith Allington and wife Karen; his daughter, Katherine “Kitty” Allington and her husband, Kim Schoolfield; his daughter, Melissa “Missy” Allington and her husband, Matt Rankin; and his son, Brad Allington and wife Cindy.
He was a proud grandfather to Tanner Bush, Ashley Finger, Jack Bush, Daniel Allington, Nathan Allington, Kyle Allington, Alyssa Johnson, and Isabel Allington, and was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita; his parents, Walter and Elsie; his brother, Roger; his sister, Midge; and his in-laws, William and Mary Jane Childers.
Norm will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quick wit, love of the outdoors, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
