Paula was very passionate about helping anyone in need. At a very early age, she knew caring for people was her calling. Her career began at Fresno Community Hospital as a nurse’s aide. The hospital administrator was so impressed with her, that he offered the opportunity to be the first student to challenge the nursing program and advance to the second year. She accepted and earned her Registered Nursing degree in 1971. She continued nurturing to those in need while working at Fresno Community Hospital in the Emergency Room, also training first responders with radio communications between the hospital, fire department and paramedics; Out-patient surgery; Director of Nursing at Cheyanne Medical Center in Wyoming; a local surgeon that specialized in Plastic surgery; and Endoscopy until she retired from St. Agnes Hospital in 2003.
Paula cherished socializing with her family and friends. She loved the holidays and especially enjoyed sharing a family holiday meal knowing we were anticipating her special grape leaves that only she could make. She found great comfort in listening to Christian music and learning to play the organ. She enjoyed making floral arrangements and having holiday boutiques.
Paula was preceded in death by her loving parents Joseph and Alice Haddad; sister Rita Hadden and brother Jim Haddad.
Paula will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 48 years, Ronald Beck; daughters, Lori Beck, Julie Matthews (Charles Jr); a sister, Loretta Long; sister-in-law, Carolyn Fair (Mike); her cherished grandchildren, Samantha Waltner, Jacquelyn Jeffrey (Dwayne) and James McCall; great grandchildren, Mary Ruger, Gage Waltner, Bryce and Melanie Jeffrey; great-great granddaughter Mareya Johnson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A special note written by Paula:
“My last words to my family, friends, and loved ones. We often don’t think of words we might want to share with our loved ones. It would be a blessing if we all had time to express our last wishes. What is it that we want to say? I love you all with every being in my body and soul.”
The family would like to thank everyone who has provided love and care for Paula during the past year.
