Being one of twenty-four children, Pete was put to work early in the family bakery at the age of six, delivering bread to local villages. Although he had limited opportunities for an education, he always had the desire to learn. At the age of sixteen he left for the United States with only twenty dollars to his name.
Pete worked his way from Oxnard, CA to Firebaugh where he ended up settling. Shortly after arriving in Firebaugh, he met the love of his life, Esther. They were married May 21, 1953. From their union came their four children, Marcelino, Peter, Sharon “Tucky”, and Corinne. Pete and Esther also raised his niece, Inez Ramos Del La Cruz who was truly another daughter.
Pete and Esther worked hard over the years to build a successful life for themselves and their family. Pete worked in carpentry and plumbing until eventually they became business owners. They were able to enjoy traveling abroad and playing golf regularly with good friends.
Pete was a pillar in the Firebaugh community and not only leaves a legacy behind throughout the town of Firebaugh but also through his family. He was blessed to have a large family including many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pete passed peacefully at home at the age of 92 on Monday, March 24, 2025 surrounded by his family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and love him.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Esther; his four wonderful children, Pete Ramirez, Jr. (Susan); Marce Ramirez, Sharon “Tucky” Ramirez and Corinne Gilbert (Wayne), and his caring niece, Inez De La Cruz (Jesse); his amazing grandchildren, Bobby Barner (Chasta), Christopher Ramirez (Rebecca), Jenifer Narragon (Beau), Patrick Ramirez (Bonnie), Jeremy Ramirez (Adriana), Tasha Gallegos, along with 14 great grandchildren and his sister Carolina Ramirez along with many nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Maximiliano Ramirez and Petra Ramirez of Santa Cruz de las Flores in Jalisco, Mexico, along with his 22 brothers and sisters, and granddaughter Kelly Ramirez and grandson Jonathan Reagan.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1558 – 12th Street, Firebaugh, California on Monday, April 7, 2025. Visitation 8:30 – 9:30 am; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 am; Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am; Burial at 12:15 pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
