Peter Gill will be remembered not only as a man with strong family convictions; he will also be remembered as a man of ethics, who treated people with the respect and dignity that they deserved. Pete was a proud man and it showed from the way he dressed, to the way he presented himself, to the care that he took with his possessions. He could be the life of the party, he was intelligent, had a good sense of humor, and had 1001 stories.
Pete was born to Karter and Jessie (Rodriguez) Gill on October 23, 1930 in Bakersfield, California and has a younger sister Angie. He attended elementary school in Bakersfield then relocated to Sanger, California where he attended Sanger High School, graduating in 1949.
It was in high school where he met the love of his life, Lenora Presley. They were married on March 17, 1951 and eventually moved to Fresno, California. Pete was blessed with two children: Randall Carter and Alyson Lyn.
Pete was a hard working man that provided well for his family. He began his career as route delivery person for Van Gas. After moving to Fresno, he started out as a mechanic working for Frontier Chevrolet, which is where he had the opportunity to get into sales. Pete excelled as a salesman at Frontier for over 20 years before he felt a need for change, and made the decision to become a real estate agent. Once Pete got his real estate license he became an agent for Century 21, and after 20 more years, he finally retired. Pete was an avid reader and some of his other hobbies included cars, working in his yard, and woodworking.
Pete fought a brave battle against lung disease and passed away January 21, 2012 at home with his family. He is survived by his daughter Alyson Claybaugh, son-in-law Jim Claybaugh, and sister Angie Ybarra.
Visitation was held at Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory, funeral services were held at Northwest Church. Pete was laid to rest at Belmont Memorial Gardens in Fresno, California.
