Peter Michael Lango Sr.

Peter was born on July 25, 1940, in Fowler, California, to Valentin and Maria Lango. One of 16 children, Peter grew up surrounded by a large and loving family.

He graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School, where he made a lasting impression through his exceptional all-around athletic abilities. Peter continued his education at Fresno State University, earning a degree in Health Education. He later earned his master’s degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

While studying on the Central Coast, Peter treasured time with his family and especially enjoyed outdoor activities. Some of his happiest memories included clamming and spending long days at the beach, where he taught his children how to body surf.

Peter devoted his professional life to education and athletics. He became a professor at Bakersfield College, where he taught Health Education and served as Head Baseball Coach for The Bakersfield College of Renegades. His career allowed him to share his love of sports, education, and mentorship with generations of students and athletes.

Summers were a special time for Peter and his family. He loved traveling and spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and children, especially during family camping and hiking trips at Huntington Lake. These gatherings created treasured memories that his family will carry with them always.

Peter was a kind and loving father who always looked for the best in everyone. He cherished his family deeply, and being a grandfather brought him tremendous joy. He loved each and every one of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sally; her daughters, Aileen and her husband, Gary Wilson and their son, Miles; Rebecca and her husband, Justin Evers. Peter's children, Teresa, daughter, and her husband, Eugene Salazar; Peter Lango, son, and his wife, Rosie; Jeff Lango, son. Mother of his children, Rose Hernandez.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Kimbriel and her husband, Robert; Christopher Salazar and his wife, Kimberly; Eugene Ryan Salazar; Michael, Peter, Laura, and Mia Lango; Michael Lango; and Anna Turner and her husband, Jake; as well as his beloved great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jackson, Nathaniel, Cody, Christian, Bradley, Luke, and Boot.

Peter is also survived by his brothers, Tony Lango and his wife, Lupe, and Larry Lango, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Valentin and Maria Lango; his son, Valentin Lango; his son’s , Valentin and Brian Lango. Siblings, nieces & nephews.

Peter’s life was one of family, education, athletics, and service to others. He will be remembered for his kindness, his love of family, his dedication to his students and athletes, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know and love him.

His legacy will live on through the generations of family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched throughout his 86 years.

Sally’s Memories of Pete

Sally fondly remembers meeting Pete when they were just eight years old, while attending Tillman Elementary School. Their families already knew one another, having both migrated from Mexico, and their connection began at a very young age.

She remembers playing jacks on the playground while Pete played baseball nearby. On one memorable occasion, Pete was running after a ball and, to avoid running into Sally, he actually hurdled over her—a childhood memory that stayed with her throughout the years.

After they married and made their life together in Fresno, Pete found great enjoyment in spending time outdoors. He loved gardening and could often be found in the backyard tending to his plants and beautiful rose garden.

Pete also greatly appreciated the wonderful meals Sally prepared for him. He never hesitated to compliment her cooking, always telling her how delicious her food was.

Sally remembers Pete as a happy, generous, and giving man who always seemed to have a smile on his face. Their many years together were filled with memories she will forever hold close to her heart.
