Pia Marta, loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednes- day, October 5, 2011. Pia was born in San Mateo, Ca. on April 13, 1922. She graduated from Mercy High School and worked in San Francisco at the induction center during WWII where she met her husband Ray. They married and moved to their farm in the Fresno area where she lived the proverbial "city girl" in the country.
After her husband's death she took up the task of managing her family's income property for over 40 years. She was employed for many years as librarian and aide at Orange Center Elementary School.
Mom weathered many storms with grace. She will be truly missed by her family and all those who knew her. She had a wonderful wit and humor until the end. Mom was proud of her longevity of 89-1/2 years.
She was also proud of her three children, Inez Tilden, Celeste Durkin and Steve Marta; as well as her six grandchildren, Amy Finke, Adam Durkin, Andrea Durkin, Brandon Marta, Melanie Marta, Jennifer Marta; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Jaymee and Sydney Finke.
A Private Memorial will be held.
