Rachel grew up in Mendota, California, and later moved to the YWCA where she worked as a telephone operator. After retiring from AT&T, she dedicated her time to babysitting, caring for the elderly, and gardening. She was a very loving person, Rachel was always going above and beyond for her children and grandchildren.
Rachel Avila is survived by her brother, Alex Suvia, her sister, Virginia Whitaker, her 2 daughters, Lenore Calderon and Stacy Avila, her son, Joey Avila, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A public visitation will be held April 11,2024, at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home from 4:30pm-6:30pm, followed by the reciting of the Rosary from 6:30pm-7:00pm.
Mass services will take place on April 12,2024, at St.Therese Church, at 11:00am, with burial services at Fresno Memorial Gardens following.
Rachel Santos Avila (Suvia) will be dearly missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
