August 31, 1937 - June 12, 2025
Ramona S. Aguilar, lovingly known as "The Talking Lady," passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by those who cherished her most. She was 87 years old.
Ramona was born August 31, 1937, in Malaga, California. Ramona lived a full and colorful life defined by connection, humor, and an unmistakable voice, one that everyone in the neighborhood recognized. She was married to her beloved husband Joe "Chispo" Aguilar, for 36 memorable years, a partnership filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion.
Ramona was famous for her no-filter storytelling, laugh-out-loud tales, and completely unsolicited (but usually spot-on) advice. She had a way of telling you exactly what she thought, whether you wanted to hear it or not, and making you laugh while she did. Her conversations were rarely brief, always entertaining, and often unforgettable.
She could and would talk to anyone, anywhere. A quick hello often turned into a 45-minute conversation, and no one ever left her presence without a story to tell. Her vibrant personality and open heart drew people in, and her honesty and humor kept them coming back.
Ramona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe "Chispo" Aguilar; her parents, Gumecindo and Esther Serbera; and her siblings Rosie Zaldana, Sally Felix, Jesse Serbera, and Jennie Real. Their memories lived on in her stories, her laughter, and her enduring love for family.
She is survived by a large and loving extended family, including many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a growing number of great-great nieces, and great-great-nephews all of whom knew her as a constant, spirited presence in their lives.
