Randy was born on June 5, 1947, and passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He grew up in Clovis and attended Clovis High School where he played baseball and basketball. Randy then went to Fresno City College and Fresno State University where he played baseball. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard 1st Battalion, 159th Infantry. He worked for Shell Oil Company, owned Eddie's Liquor Store in Clovis and the Gold Country Store in Mokelumne Hills with his brother Eddie Mesple, and worked as an independent contractor for The Fresno Bee.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul Mesple; and his brother, Raymond Edward Mesple.
Randy is survived by his mother, Eva Mary Mesple; son Scott and his wife Shana; and granddaughter Payton; former wife, Mary Swank Mesple; sisters, Carolyn Velasquez and Elaine Cuenca and her husband Richard; nieces, Nicole Quandt Girardin and Kelly Velasquez Hague.
