Like his other grandchildren, I too remember the his loving home, the most delicious whipped cream cookie sandwiches, and our legendary breakfast trips.  But unlike them, I wasn't always his grandchild.  My Mom was fortunate enough to marry his son and I was welcomed to the family as his step-granddaughter when I was 12.  You would never know it though.  Ray treated me as one of his own, with all the love and tenderness of my own grandparents.  I feel so fortunate to have known Ray.  His humor, smile, and caring nature will live with me forever.  I'm so glad he has been such a big part of my life, my Mom's life, and even my own grandparent's lives.  I loved watching how he cared for his wife, kids, and grandkids.  He was a true family man and has been a blessing to ours.  I will never forget him, especially when I go out for a good breakfast.

I have so many great memories of my wonderful father-in-law.  Riding in the 7up cart at The Big Fresno Fair, going to the Caruthers Fair, his laugh when I chased Steve over the fence and Sheba was on the other side, camping at the beach, taking me to church.  He was so proud of his family and loved everyone without condition.  He never wanted to imposition anyone and was always helping everyone else.  He was the one of the most selfless people I know.  He accepted me and my daughter into the family and treated my daughter as his own granddaughter.  I as everyone else will truly miss him.

It is amazing to think of all the memories. There isn't just one that comes to mind. The cookies and cool whip, the pool, the big blue slip and slide, pancakes with an egg on top. Christine and I used to think we were sneaky and we would call grandpa one after the other and ask if we could stay the night so we could hang out together. Playing hide and seek with Steven and Michael. (We would always lose). We love you very much grandpa, you will be missed.

When I was a little girl my sister Melissa, my brother Steven, cousins Michael and Christine and I would go visit grandpa and grandma all the time. They would always have chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar and frozen whipped cream and ice cream, they would make us cookie sandwich's. We always had such a fun time with grandpa. Playing in the pool in the backyard and tanning with grandpa. I always will have the best memories at their house. Best grandpa ever.

Alyssa wrote this note on Wednesday when she found out about her Papa. Both Zack and Alyssa called him Papa that makes the cookies. He would always make cookies for them when they came over. We love you Papa that makes the cookies!
