On October 2, 1948, in Fresno, California a handsome baby boy was born to Natalia and Manuel Lucero, and they named him Reuben G. Lucero. Reuben was raised in Parlier, California along with his brothers Johnny and Bobby Zapata and Manuel, Richard, and Nash Lucero. Reuben was always the smallest kid growing up, but he had the biggest ambitions. He graduated from Parlier High School and went on to McGeorge School of Law where he graduated, June 1, 1974. In just a few short months, Reuben passed his bar exam on December 18, 1974, and officially became a lawyer. Reuben spent the next few years honing his law skills working at legal aid making pennies (as he would always say) and in 1981, he decided to open up his own law firm. This was his most proud accomplishment, until December 31, 1979, when his life changed forever after he met the love of his life, Rosa Lucero. Reuben and Rosa fell in love and were married on May 21, 1983.
Reuben had a way of making people he met feel comfortable. Whether it was sharing a laugh after him telling a joke or just his goofy personality. He was loving, kind, and compassionate. Reuben was never selfish with his wisdom, always willing to share with anyone who asked. He was always willing to be a helping hand to those around him.
Reuben was very involved in his community. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the Central California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, and was a member of La Raza Lawyers Association. He was also a devout catholic and attended mass every Sunday at St. Therese where he also served as a eucharistic minister and a lector. Reuben was a man that loved being around family any chance he could. He had many hobbies, some of which include golfing, reading various books and the newspaper everyday, dancing, traveling with his wife, and of course his number one hobby was sleeping.
Reuben went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with his father, mother, and brothers Manuel and Richard Lucero on May 6, 2022.
Reuben was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 39 years, Rosa Lucero; his 3 kids Jose Aranda and his wife Cyndi Aranda, Danny Aranda and his wife Nadine Aranda, Ruben Lucero, and his 9 grandchildren; Yvette Lynch, Alicia Grijalva, Erika Aranda, Ariana Aranda, Tristan Aranda, Ruben Lucero, Alyssa Lucero, Noah Aranda, Justine Aranda; along with his great grandchildren; Rickey Lynch III, Kai Lynch, Ella Young, and his soon-to-be great granddaughter who he was excited to meet Ryuu Rubie.
