Robin A. Dolarian, brilliant, mercurial, wildly creative, and brimming with life passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in Fresno at the age of 63. In his last hours, he received visits from many loved ones, family, friends, distant relatives, and he had moments of clarity that enabled him to bestow his blessings and best wishes on those he loved most. He took his last breath with his wife and daughter by his side.
Some know him as professor, some as artist, friend, brother, son, father, and husband. Many know him as provocateur, contrarian, forward thinker, philosopher, and historian. His closest friends know his constant and prayerful search for God and the heart of Christianity. In his art, one sees a depth of thinking that takes the viewer into foreign areas of thought. From crucifixes to portraits to abstract realms, one does not just casually glance at a picture and move on. Each piece draws the eyes and the mind into a world that knows pain, betrayal, heartbreak, hope, redemption, and the divine.
Rob’s loved ones lost a man who cared deeply about them, pushed for daily contact and depth of relationship that stripped away pretence. Those will miss him every day. However, those who knew him by his work, infrequent conversations, and reputation have only lost the personal contact. The vision, ideas, humor, and grasping of life by his teeth will be remembered and embraced in the world Rob created forever. He is a man that will never be forgotten.
Rob is survived by a large family. His wife Lusine, who is the embodiment of redemption in his later life, and her daughter Maria. His children, the pride of his life, Joshua and Natalie. His grandchildren Hannah and Luke. His mother Rose, sister Sophie, brother Ara, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. His two uncles, Armen and George Dervishian, loved him like their own and stood by him through everything (and for that, he occasionally let them win while playing backgammon and cards). Finally, Rob is survived by his beloved dogs Bella, Dali, and Charles.
