Sanger, CA alongside sisters Janet and Patricia. He spent 50 years on the road as a dedicated
truck driver and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 5th.
He’s survived by Kathy, his wife of 41 years and sister Janet Latham. His extended family
includes stepson Roy, grandchildren Anthony, Kristine and Brittany, along with Nico, Sal and
Carlo. He also has great-grandchildren Tyson and Macie plus numerous nieces, nephews and
in-laws.
He’s preceded in death by son Russell, daughter Cheryl, great-granddaughter Rachel and
sister Patricia Laughnan.
When not working, Roger enjoyed rooting for the San Francisco 49ers in football and Los
Angeles Dodgers in baseball. His most beloved sport was Nascar and all-time favorite driver
was Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Alongside Kathy, they enjoyed many years as Nascar season ticket
holders in Phoenix and Las Vegas.
In addition, he loved family vacations in Santa Cruz at the Rio Del Mar resort, watching all the
grandkids grow up before his eyes. He also took many adventures to Huntington Lake with
sister-in-law and brother-in-law Becky & Bill Hayden who became valued friends & travel
companions through the years.
Here’s a couple more fun facts about Roger:
• His wife Kathy got her Class A license so they could make extra long-haul truck trips
together. When Roger was too tired to drive, Kathy would take over and he trusted her
driving since he was her instructor.
• After retiring from his truck driving days, Roger bought and enjoyed a Backdraft Cobra that
he meticulously cleaned and cared for just like every vehicle he ever drove.
• Roger was also in charge of the sound for many years at for Fresno Dixieland Jazz and an
avid music fan.
