Ronald Arlyn Ruether, known affectionately as Ron or Ronnie, passed away on August 31, 2023, at the age of 83 in Fresno, CA. He was born on July 9, 1940, in Orange, CA. Ron was always the true gentleman who had a positive outlook on life. He was kind, strong, and protective, and he treated everyone with respect. Ron had a natural ability to make friends easily and felt at ease in any social setting, particularly with his family and close friends, of which there were many.
Ron is survived by his devoted spouse of 37 years, Diane Ruether, his loving daughter Rebecca Ruether, his cherished grandson Dreu Rosalia, and a great-grandson, Jayden. He was also a beloved brother to Laural Gardner and her husband, Bob, Rosemary Turpin and her husband, Robert, and Kelly Bock and her husband, Don. Ron leaves behind many brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Ron was a highly accomplished individual. He graduated as the Class Valedictorian from Kingsburg High and went on to pursue higher education at U.C. Berkeley, CA. He also served his country with honor and distinction, having been associated with both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force - National Guard Reserves.
Professionally, Ron was a Certified Public Accountant for 50 years and dedicated his career as a partner at Stoughton Davidson, CPA's until his retirement. His expertise and commitment to his work were widely recognized and respected.
When not working, Ron found solace in the great outdoors. He had a deep connection with the mountains, especially the Shaver Lake area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing whenever he could. Ron also had a passion for food and wine, and he loved experimenting with cooking whenever he had the chance.
He is pre-deceased by his daughter Shelby Ruether, father and mother Richard and Beatrice Ruether, and brother and sister-in-law Richard & Bonnie Ruether. In memory of Ron, contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (at Parkinsons.org), an organization that was close to his heart and life.
Ronald Arlyn Ruether will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His positive spirit, kindness, and love for his family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished.
