Rosalie Allene Rowe (maiden Reavis) was born Feb 17th 1932 in Fresno California. Her parents Glenn D. Reavis and Allene Reavis raised her in Clovis where she had many happy memories of playing outside in nature. On Sept 4, 2021 at age 89, she died in the Fresno home where she lived and gardened for over 50 years. Her love of the earth led her to be a peace and environmental activist; sharing her ideas with local groups, students and friends through a lifetime of everyday actions.
Rosalie became an elementary school teacher after college, and traveled to New Zealand on a teaching scholarship. In NZ, she met and married her husband of 54 years, Ivan H. Rowe. They returned to Fresno and had 2 children, Lisa and Eric Rowe. Rosalie continued to teach and involve herself in every kind of nature and plant group imaginable. Rose's older sister, Anne Heckley, passed away several years before her. Rose is survived by her two children Lisa and Eric Rowe, grandson Jack and friend Nelda, her 5 nieces and nephews (and their children), as well as many other close friends. Many of her friends shared her deep spiritual connections and compassionate views. Rose loved plants, animals, children and was happiest caring for our beautiful world.
Memorial gathering will be at the Rowe residence 535 E. San Ramon, Fresno CA 93710. 1:00 -2:00 pm. Outside on the back deck (weather permitting). RSVP Lisa Rowe (530) 575-2627
In lieu of flowers or cards, please step outside and look at the sky, say thank you to the earth, plants and animals, smile and teach the children. Donations in Rose's name can be made to Audubon https://www.audubon.org/ or Women's International League for Peace and Freedom https://wilpfus.org/
