Roy Santamaria Grijalva, 80, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on February 14, 1945, in Tucson, Arizona, to the late Goya Santamaria Grijalva and Ismael Grijalva. With pride in his Native American heritage, Roy cherished family, faith, and the values that shaped his life.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife, Maruja Grijalva; his children, Eric (Sarah), Roy, Katrina, and Becky; his many cherished grandchildren, and his beloved siblings.
Roy married the love of his life, Maruja, on November 23, 1968, and together they carved out a beautiful life. Determined to create a strong foundation for them, Roy pursued his education and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in business. He went on to enjoy a successful career as a Senior Buyer and CEO, which took him to several states over the years.
After retiring in Fresno, California, Roy found happiness in being close to his grandchildren Trinity and Vincent. He was a constant presence at their soccer games, school performances, and dance recitals, cheering them on with pride and joy.
Roy’s life was rich with passion and joy. He loved the game of golf, delighted in country line dancing with Maruja and their circle of friends, and was an active member of the Italian American Club in Madera and the Sons in Retirement (S.I.R).
A devoted Catholic, Roy lived his faith daily through kindness, generosity, and quiet acts of service to others. He donated blood regularly and faithfully supported several charities each month. He will forever be remembered as a loyal and loving husband, a proud and guiding father, and a deeply caring grandfather. His unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and the love he poured into his family will remain his lasting legacy.
