My uncle was a decorated veteran of WWII including campaigns in Leyte, Luzon, Manila, for which he earned three bronze stars. But like most of the members of the Greatest Generation, he never bragged and hardly spoke of his brave and exemplary service for our country and our freedom. Instead when asked about the war he would teach you the Japanese nursery rhyme he learned from local children after the Army occupied Toyko. Clearly he preferred the happy memories, and in the years after the war, when he lived a seemingly unremarkable life as a steady worker for RubberCraft in Torrance Ca and faithful husband to my Aunt Evelyn he was beloved among the family for his wit and humor. Gone now, but not forgotten, rest in peace.

Uncle Mutt will be missed by all of us.  He was a natural born story-teller and had an amazing wit.  He served in WWII - the Greatest Generation.

MY CHILDREN LOOKED AT THEM AS THEIR NANA AND TATA...THAT'S WHAT THEY CALLED THEM. WE CONSIDERED THE BOTH OF THEM FAMILY. HE ALWAYS BROUGHT A SMILE TO ALL OUR FACES WITH HIS JOKES AND SENSE OF HUMOR.
