Roy Dean Williams

Roy was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on September 24, 1942. His family moved to Dennison, Texas where he spent his formative years working on the farm with his brothers and sisters until he graduated high school. He then moved to Hanford, CA to live with his dad until he was drafted into the Army where he courageously fought in the Vietnam War from 1964-1966. After his service ended, Roy returned to Hanford and was hired by the United States Postal Service. It was at the USPS where he quickly found the love of his life Andrea when she dropped off mail in his office. They married in 1968 and soon had three children. Roy’s hard work ethic and natural leadership ability quickly led him to become Postmaster in Corcoran and then Sanger where he moved his family in 1979. Roy served the community of Sanger as an active member of the Rotary Club working many hours at Rotary Field as well as serving on the Parks and Recreation commission. Roy happily went on school field trips with his children and built a rapport with their classmates leading him to be considered a cool dad. Later he became known as Papa to his three grandchildren and he enjoyed watching all of their school accomplishments and growing to become the wonderful adults they are today.

Roy had amazing athletic ability and a confidence that led him to conquer any sport he tried. It could be anything from pitching horseshoes, to shooting baskets, to playing baseball. Roy was also an avid sportsman and he always brought home the most fish and the most birds. Where he really excelled was on the golf course where he accumulated many tournament trophies including winning a car after achieving a hole-in-one. To all of Roy’s golf buddies over the years, the family would like to thank you for all the money he won off of you and trust us when we say if he ever busted your chops with his quick wit, it meant he liked you.

Lastly, despite all of Roy’s accomplishments mentioned above, it is important to point out that you can really truly tell how he lived his life by how he was surrounded by love at the end of it. Everyone of Roy’s children and grandchildren were with him at the end showing how much he was cared about and respected. If love was a currency, then Roy was the richest man in the world. Roy passed on Saturday morning on July 11th holding the hand of the love of his life and best friend Andrea. For 58 years, they built a life together rooted in devotion and a deep love, setting a beautiful example for their family.

Roy is survived by wife Andrea Williams; his children, Julie Evans (and spouse Dan), Roger Williams, Randolph Williams; his grandchildren Carson Evans (and girlfriend Ainsley), Matthew Ross (and fiancé Rosemary), Sierra Van Staaveren (and husband Ezekiel); his siblings Reba Honeysuckle, Kassie Roberts, Earl Williams, and Paula Carter, sister-in-law Janet Rachford, numerous nieces and nephews, and his pets Rusty, Buster, and Barney.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents William Williams and Myrtle Carter; his siblings Doye Cullison, Dee Williams, Carrol Cole, James Cullison, Ed Williams, and Linda Argomaniz; his father and mother in-law Roger and Helena Ingram.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 355 E Champlain Drive, Fresno at 10:00 am. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited before the Mass at 9:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno. (St. Matthew’s Mausoleum). Following the burial, everyone is welcome to join the family at the Riverside Golf Course, 7492 North Riverside Drive, Fresno for food and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy’s memory can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or donors favorite charity.

Roy will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and the love he shared will continue to live on in our memories forever.
