I often think of Dora, remembering her passion for sharing the Good News, her love of the Scripture, her family and friends around the world. She taught me lots in words and especially her deeds.

Joanne and Tony, you were blessed with a very special mother.   Since we arrived in Cali on Nov 11, 56, we weren't with her and your father very long.  But there are several things we remember about them.  I think we saw them (and you) for the first time when you had just arrived by plane from the Choco jungles over the Andes into Cali.  We soon learned that that plane on its return flight to Choco, crashed.  How many times they must have made that trip and God kept them safe because He had more for them to do.  

While in Cali, I believe your Mom helped us a bit with the Spanish we were learning.  Later, our first home was the house they (and you) vacated in the village of Noanama, way down the San Juan River from Istmina. They and the Loewens had built a very comfortable house in that village. Your Dad returned to Noanama, no doubt for some linguistic work, before you left Colombia.  So he was our guest.  He liked to arise early (4:30 or 5:00) and take a shower.  Of course, he couldn't shower without singing.  And none of the walls in the house reached the ceiling to allow for the breeze to flow through the house,  so we were awakened with your dad making melody to the Lord!   Later, we followed your dad's  ministry with much interest and prayer, together with that of Dr. Jake Loewen, in Panama.   What a blessing it was to know your parents!
