Sam Frank Cavallaro, age 82, of Fresno, California passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Sam was born October 3, 1938 in Chicago Illinois. He moved to California in the 1940's with his family from Chicago. His mother operated Cavallaro's Restaurant outside Hammer Field, the military airfield in Fresno at the time and Sam worked with his father on the family ranch. Sam's Father who's name was also Sam had retired after working 25 years on the railroad in the US and Argentina before moving to Fresno. Sam's father was an immigrant from Naples Italy.
Sam graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1957, then attended UCLA where he studied Bio Chemistry. After college Sam worked at Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco, Ca in the Cardiac and laboratory departments and then at Lawrence Livermore Labs in the laboratory. Throughout the years following Sam had cattle ranches, a retail meat market and finally a European automotive sales and service business. Some of his favorite things were spending time with his grandson, restoring Porsche's and Mercedes, attending car shows, listening to Jazz and going to the gym.
Sam is survived by his son Sam Cavallaro; and his son Chad Cavallaro and grandson Dean Cavallaro.
A visitation and viewing for Sam will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lisle Funeral Home, 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA 93721.
A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church located at 355 E. Champlain Drive, Fresno, CA 93730.
The graveside ceremony will follow immediately after Mass at St. Peters Cemetery located at 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
