

Sarah Lee Avik, a precious mother, was wholly loved by her twin daughters. Sarah is a first-generation South Korean immigrant that moved from Seoul, South Korea to Southern California in 1970. Her original maiden Korean name is Sung Hee Lee and then chosen American name as Sarah. Sarah was born on January 12, 1942. She is the third born in a family of six children. Sarah passed away peacefully in her care home near her daughters in Fresno, California on May 28, 2026. She received exceptional care from her caregiver, Ginalyn.
She is survived by her daughters, Elisa and Anna; her five grandchildren; and her three living siblings, Daria, Raphael, and John. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is reunited in death with two siblings who passed before her.
Sarah graduated from Ewha Women’s University with a major in Journalism. She became chosen by a local newspaper in South Korea to work on their team. As a journalist, she worked in a women’s journalism group, and they were invited by the Japanese government to visit. This was a monumental event at that time. Sarah followed her older sister, Rosa, to come to Southern California for new beginnings.
She will be deeply missed by her family. Her love of family was known to all, and she will be missed by many.
