Servando O. Tovar, 88, passed away peacefully in Dinuba, California on August 8, 2026—a day that marked 62 years of devoted marriage to the love of his life, Gloria.
Born in Matamoros, Mexico on October 23, 1937, Servando’s journey was defined by perseverance, sacrifice, and deep devotion to his family. At age 16, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, where he laid the foundation for his future. With great pride and determination, he achieved his U.S. citizenship at the age of 19. On August 8, 1964, Servando married Gloria, beginning a beautiful legacy that would span six decades and grow across generations.
A quiet, hardworking man, Servando led by example. Though he was naturally reserved, his presence was a steady anchor for everyone around him. He was loyal, family-oriented, and always available to share a thoughtful word of advice or lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His strength was never loud; it was found in his consistency, his strong work ethic, and the unwavering support he gave to those he loved.
Servando is preceded in death by his two brothers Jose Tovar, Oscar Tovar, and his sister Irene Torres.
Servando’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Tovar; his six children, Servando Tovar and his wife Veronica Tovar, Christina Ayarzagoitia and her husband Israel Ayarzagoitia, Ruben Tovar and his wife Maria Tovar, Arturo Tovar and his wife Tina Tovar, Daniel Tovar and his wife Gloria Tovar, and David Tovar and his wife Kelly Tovar; his seventeen grandchildren, Samantha Tovar-Harris, Christopher Tovar, Victoria Tovar, Xavier Ayarzagoitia, Jacqueline Tovar, Katherine Tovar-Manegdeg, Justin Smith, Gabriel Tovar, Christian Tovar, Isaiah Ayarzagoitia, Isabella Ayarzagoitia, Alexandra Tovar, Jacob Tovar, Elizabeth Tovar, Ariel Tovar, Elijah Tovar, and Sophia Tovar; his five precious great-grandchildren, Maddox Ayarzagoitia, Mackenzie Harris, Elliot Mohr-Tovar, Desmond Ayarzagoitia, and Logan Harris.
He is also survived by his four sisters Carmela, Minerva, Lupe, Olga.
Servando leaves behind a profound legacy of integrity, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed, but his memory and values will live on through the generations he built and cherished.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, US, on August 20, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Committal Service will follow at Smith Mountain Cemetery, 42088 Rd 100, Dinuba, CA 93618.
