

Sharon was born on March 13, 1953, in Salinas, CA. the youngest of seven children born to James and Dolores Allan. She left her loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2014, with her husband Gene by her side.
Sharon moved to Fresno when she was two years old. She graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1971, and St. Mary's College of California in 1975.
Upon graduating from college, Sharon began her professional career as a Probation Officer with Fresno County and later joined the California Department of Corrections as a Parole Agent. In her service with the CDC, she excelled, was the first female Range Master, earned Parole Agent of the Year, and retired as a Parole Supervisor in 2009.
Sharon met her husband Gene in 1979 and enjoyed over 25 years of marriage. Their first date was on horseback and from that day forward, Gene and Sharon enjoyed many pack trips in the high country of California and Wyoming.
Sharon had the joy of one grandchild, Julia, with whom she spent many loving hours making chocolate chip cookies. Cooking was one of her greatest passions, as well. Sharon took great pleasure in traveling, especially with her brother Billy, and going for a run in the orchards surrounding the family ranch in Clovis.
Sharon faced many challenges throughout her life, but confronted each with tenacity and determination. She was, and always will be, an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Her passing has left a painful void in the lives of her family and friends and she will be deeply missed.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, James and Dolores Allan.
Sharon is survived by her husband Gene; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Michelle and Jeff Mott; her granddaughter, Julia; her siblings, Patty Allan, Kathy Allan, Terry and Joe De Young, Jim and Debra Allan, Maryclaire and Steve Polacek, and Bill and Maureen Allan. Sharon is also survived by her 12 nephews and nieces.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns, and Blair Funeral Home, on Monday, March 3, 2014, at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.
