It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Sharon Toste Newman on February 18th surrounded by all her family at the age of 73. Sharon was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who touched the lives of so many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
Born on May 8, 1951 in Arcata CA, Sharon lived a life full of compassion, joy, and dedication to her family. She had a special ability to bring light into any room and was always ready with a helping hand, a kind word, or a warm embrace. Sharon grew up in Atwater CA, met the love of her life, Gary and spent the last 55 years together. She devoted her life to raising their 3 children. Upon her husband's retirement, they called Bass Lake home until finally settling in Clovis CA where she enjoyed living next door to her "neighbors" her grandchildren.
Sharon found great joy in attending car shows with her husband Gary, listening to the oldies in their 1934 Chevy Coupe, or the new addition, a 1970 Chevy Chevelle. If not attending car shows, she loved
spending time with her children and grandchildren going on family vacations every November. Some of her best memories were spent with family at their family cabin in Bass Lake and in Monterey.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Gary, son Tim Newman, daughter Karen Newman, son Nathan Newman (Erin) and grandchildren Jazmyne, Sierra, Nicholas, Reagan, and sister Nancy Platt, along with many cherished relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her father Anthony Toste, mother Florence Beeler, brother Gary Toste and sister Patricia Birmingham.
Sharon's final resting place will be in Monterey CA, one of her favorite places to be. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) in Sharon's memory.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the love Sharon shared and the beautiful memories left behind. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten
