Born on October 25, 1934, Shirley grew up on the family farm in Fowler, CA. She attended Oleander Grammar School and later graduated from Washington Union High School.
Shirley was a devoted stay-at-home mom and remained active in her local PTA while her children, Rick and Tamara, were in school, offering steady support and care in the ways that mattered most day to day.
Shirley loved line dancing, a simple joy that brought her energy, connection, and fun. She was also very proud of her Volga German heritage and was a long-time member of the local chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Dorothy Horn, and her husband of 67 years, Roy Andersen. She is survived by her son, Rick Andersen of Las Vegas, Nevada, her daughter, Tamara Andersen of Fresno, California, her sister, Dorothy Geringer of Fresno, California, her brother, Ben Horn of Bakersfield, California, and her granddogs, Roxie, Molly, and Dodger. She also leaves behind many other friends and family who all love her dearly.
Shirley’s family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the staff and team at Oakmont Senior Living Facility for the love and care that they all showed her every day.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, located at 201 N Teilman Avenue, Fresno, California, 93706, on April 10, 2026, at 10:00 am. All who knew and loved Shirley are welcomed to attend.
