Stephen Anthony Borges, firstborn son of Ted and Connie Borges, made his debut on March 22, 1960 in Fresno, California. Steve went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in Barstow, California.
A 1978 graduate of McLane High School, Steve's first job was with Ron's Mobile Glass, then he worked for William Saleh Painting as a painter, salesman at HomeBase in Clovis, an installer at AutoHaus Fresno, before his final career as maintenance supervisor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Paul Newman Center. Steve also co-coached his little brother Vince's soccer team with their parents, coached soccer at Sacred Heart School, and was a baseball scorekeeper for Hoover High School.
Steve deeply loved his faith and community and served as an alter-server and acolyte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a Charter Knight at Sacred Heart's Knights of Columbus.
He met his first love, Theresa “Terry” Marie Cardona at a church dinner and they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on September 17, 1983. Their pride and joy, Brenton Christopher Borges was born January 7, 1992. Sadly, Terry lost her battle with cancer in 2005. Brenton graduated Hoover High School, attended Reedley College and graduated Fresno State. Steve burst with pride over Brenton's accomplishments and the fine young man he grew into.
Steve found love again on a blind date with Erlinda Martinez, and they were married on November 14, 2015 at St. Paul Newman Center. They lived life to the fullest in their short-time together, taking spur of the moment trips on Amtrak, or visiting Pismo, Morro Bay, and Hearst Castle. Erlinda brought a smile to his face and joy back to his life.
Steve was pre-deceased by his first wife, Terry Cardona Borges, and is survived by his second wife, Erlinda Martinez Borges, his son, Brenton Borges, parents, Ted and Connie (Moncada) Borges, siblings: Richard “Rick” and Mellisa (Smythe) Borges, Cyndi (Borges) Perry and Doyle, Tammy (Borges) Smith and Philip, Vince and Katherine (Bolt) Borges, and a very large extended family and many friends.
