

He enlisted into the United States Navy at age 17 during World War II and after the war enlisted in the U.S. Army to do occupation in Japan. Before being shipped to Japan he was stationed in Fort Ord, California. During his time off he would frequently visit Santa Cruz, California where he met Ramona Fitzsimmons, his wife of 48 years.
After returning to the states from Japan he went to work with his father-in-law at Fitz- simmons Lumber dba White Pine Lumber for 47 years and later he and his sister-in-law Mary Nieson became business partners.
At age 72 Steve decided to go back to sch- ool attending Fresno City College where he studied family drug and alcohol counseling. He became involved with King of Kings of Fresno for eight years where he volunteered to help the staff, and made many friends.
For the last five years he lived at Fig Garden Retirement where he had many friends and was very involved with their daily activities. Steve got his dog Annie three years ago and could always be seen holding her.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; and his daughter, Carla along with all his brothers.
Steve is survived by his sister, Hazel Bass of Orange Park, Florida; his son, Jeff L. Perritte; his grandchildren, Christina Hebert, Matt Belcher, Jeff N. Perritte, Josh Perritte; four great grandchildren; niece Cindy Moreland; and sister-in-law, Mary Nieson.
