Steven Gary Fernandes was born on June 15, 1948 in Fresno, California to Earl and Maxine Fernandes and passed away in his earthly home on April 16, 2019 to enter his eternal home with the Lord Jesus.
Steve was preceded in death by both his parents, Earl and Maxine Fernandes.
Steve was an United States Army Veteran from 1966 – 1969, proudly serving his country for two tours in Vietnam as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. He also served in the 320th Artillery.
Steve is survived by his brother Randy Fernandes (wife Brenda) of Visalia, daughter Stephanie Fernandes of Fresno, Amy Souza (husband Jeff) of Fresno, whom she considered as her dad, sons David Fernandes of Las Vegas, NV, Steven Fernandes II (wife Nicole) of Fresno. Two grandchildren, his beloved grandson Dominic Fernandes who lovingly cared for his “best friend Grandpa” as his health deteriorated, and his precious granddaughter Jacqueline Phelps. As a testament to his kind spirit, Steve was still close friends with both his former wives, Debby Stewart of Clovis, mother of Stephanie and David and Michelle Fernandes of Fresno, mother of Amy and Steven.
Steve loved his cars, he belonged to the Central Valley Muscle Car Club where he proudly displayed his 1965 Plymouth Satellite. Steve and his brother Randy would always reference a time in the past by what car they had at that time. It must be a guy thing. Anyone who knows Steven wouldn’t be surprised if he cut his teeth on a monkey wrench his Dad handed him while they worked in their auto shop together!
Steve you are already missed, and your absence leaves a huge hole in our family. We love you and may you rest in peace.
