Steve started selling cars at the family dealership on Abbey when he was 16, and continued for the next 58 years, first at Abbey, then with his brother Stan as the Ford franchisee in Clovis, until they eventually downsized, splitting the car business but they always remained partners.
In 1976 he met his future wife, Cheryl, and they were married on May 12th, 1979 and spent the next 43 years together, raising a family, spending time at the lake, and traveling. Steve started participating in Alcoholics Anonymous in 1981, and for over 40 years it played a prominent role in his life. He would attend meetings 3 times a week and mentored many people through the years. The only time he missed a significant number of meetings was in Summer, when he spent his time at Bass Lake. He was always willing to pull a wake-boarder, or take someone for a ride on his boat, which steadily got faster and faster through the years.
When his son, Skylar, started in the car business (All Makes All Models), they worked together closely for 20 years. When his other son, Shawn, started working in real estate, Steve (in his 60's at that time), returned to the office full time and was a constant fixture. He loved having his family over for dinner, watching the warriors with his sons, and most of all playing with his grand daughters.
He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Sanders, his son Skylar Sanders, his son Shawn Sanders and wife Michelle, his grand daughters Scarlett, Sessily, and Jaanna, and many nieces and nephews.
