

Tadashi Araki, age 97, of Selma, California passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Tadashi was born October 21, 1924 in Tipton, California. Tadashi is survived by his wife of 73 years, Sachiko Araki; his children: Christine Nishimoto, Alex Araki and his wife Roberta, Dell Araki and his wife Nancy, and Sherri Miyake and her husband Stanley; and his brother Satoru Araki. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Choemon Araki; mother, Hatsuyo Araki; brothers: Masashi Araki, Satoshi Araki, Kenso Araki, Manabu Araki; sisters Hiroko Ikeda and Yoshiko Sakaguchi; and son in law, Henry Nishimoto.
Tad graduated from Selma High in June 1942. In August, he and his family were interned at the Gila River Relocation Center in Arizona. While his family was interned, Tad joined the Army in 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. After the war, he returned to Selma to work on the family farm. He married Sachiko Fujioka on December 11,1948.
In 1957, Tad purchased the farm on which he lived the rest of his life. In addition to farming, gardening, and landscaping, Tad's other business ventures included Araki Nursery and Selma Ag Supply Inc, an ag retail company he started with his brother Satoru Araki and Elmer Kobashi.
Tad enjoyed fishing, going to the coast, family gatherings, as well as the school and sport activities of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Compassionate Care Home Health and Hospice staffs, Visiting Angels Home Healthcare (Celeste), Selma DaVita, and caregivers Maria and Sandra for the wonderful care and support provided to Tad.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at Fresno Buddhist Church, 2690 E. Alluvial, Fresno, CA 93720. Per request of the family, masks will be required.
