Teresa Audrey Kappitz, 95, of Fresno, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024. She was born to Jose T. Torres and Josie Armijo Torres in Fresno and was the last surviving child of the Torres family.
Audrey, as she was known to family and friends, married Frank Otto Kappitz, and in May of 1948, they moved to Los Angeles, where they raised their three children. In 1971, she returned to her hometown of Fresno, where she earned her GED and an associate’s degree in nursing. Audrey worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the Telemetry Department at Fresno Regional Community Hospital for many years, retiring in 1996.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert. She is survived by her daughter, Josephine "JoAnn" Kappitz; her son, Frank Kappitz; Robert’s widow, Michelle Kappitz; grandsons, Christopher, Ray, James, Steven (Vanessa), and Adam Kappitz; granddaughters, Melanie Hernandez and Candace Kappitz; nine great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Alexis, Colten, Nathan, Grace, Lyle, Madison, Zoay, and Cara; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Audrey will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Monday, January 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 355 E Champlain Dr, Fresno, CA 93730. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
