Terry Coffin

Terry was the youngest of two boys born to Robert C. Coffin, Jr. and Ethlan M. (Page) Coffin. His father was a Navy officer and the family lived in Guam & Saipan for several years in the 1950’s and eventually settled in Oxnard, CA with his older brother, Robert Tristram after Dad retired from active military service. There he loved to surf and cruise the beaches with his 1966 GTO. This is where he met his future bride, Ann M. Longo, who was visiting her cousin who happened to be friends with Terry.

After graduating from high school Terry enlisted in the Army and was sent to Ft. Tilden, NY to learn about Nike missiles and be closer to Ann who happened to live about 70 miles away. Upon completion of his training at Ft. Tilden Terry was given orders to Baumholder, Germany for the next two years. Not wanting to be separated the couple married and moved to Germany to start their 55 year marriage and family together as well as beginning a lifelong friendship with the Becker family that has spanned generations.

Having welcomed their oldest child, Andrea Michelle, in Germany, they returned to the States and settled in Oxnard where their son, Kevin James, was born and Terry started back to school at Ventura Community College. The family moved to Fresno in 1974 where Terry attended and graduated from CSU Fresno with a degree in criminology. He was hired as a police officer with Fresno Police Department and worked for them for one year before accepting a position with Clovis PD where he worked for 13 years before retiring with a disability. Not ready to stop working altogether Terry then worked seven years for Me-N-Ed’s corporate office as a Human Resources & Loss Prevention Director, and as an employment recruiter with the firm of Sherwood, Lehman, Massucco for a few years before suffering his first heart attack and then retiring for good.

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert C. & Edna M. Coffin, Marion H. & Edna M. Page, his parents Robert C. & Ethlan M. Coffin, his daughter Andrea M. Martinez, his aunt Helen Coffin Bowen.

Terry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann, his son & daughter-in-law Kevin & Jennifer Coffin, brother & sister-in-law Robert T. & Kaye Coffin, his grandchildren Valerie Meza (Marcos), Natalie Garcia (Fernando), Kaleb Coffin, Avery Coffin, as well as his great grandchildren Anna, Marcos, Isabella, Eliana, Andrea & Damien, nephew Nathan Coffin, niece Jessica Coffin as well as nephew & spouse Brett Coffin and Kevin Petrosyan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
