Tom D. Carlson was born January 7,1936 in Fresno, California. After battling ill health for many months, Tom passed peacefully in his sleep at age 89. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025.
Tom was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boat racing. Being a classic car enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling to car shows with his buddies. Name a car and Tom had one! He established many friendships over the years through his many adventures and Tire Country USA business. Tom loved the mountains and he spent his free time at our cabin in Shaver Lake.
In 1994 during his wife’s illness, Tom became more aware of God’s peace and presence through personal prayer and friends support. After his wife, JoAnn, passed in 1999, Tom committed his life to Christ. Then at his 45th class reunion, Tom got reacquainted with a former classmate. Two years later, Tom and Sallie married and recently celebrated their 24th anniversary.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Orletta Carlson; wife, JoAnn; and son, Curt. He is survived by his wife, Sallie; daughter, Kellie (Bob) Diel; two stepdaughters, Jill (Randy) Christensen and Kristi (Stuart) Rex; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Community Church, located at 4620 E. Nees Ave., Clovis, CA 93611, on June 27, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers any remembrance can be directed to the Museum of the Sierra, 42642 Tollhouse Rd, Shaver Lake, CA 93664
