Van Erickson, 81, passed away on September 15, 2026. Born May 15, 1945, Van lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet courage, and an enduring commitment to the people who mattered most to him. He will be remembered as a beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather, and family member—someone whose loyalty and kind-hearted presence offered comfort, strength, and constancy through the years.
Van’s life reflected the dignity of honest work and the patience it takes to do things well. Having grown up on a farm, he carried forward a hard-working spirit and practical wisdom that shaped the way he approached each day. For many, he was a thoughtful and compassionate man—resilient in the face of life’s demands, steady in his care for others, and guided by a sense of integrity that never needed announcement.
A private pilot for over 30 years, Van found purpose and perspective in the discipline and responsibility of flight. He also spent many years as a contractor, earning respect through reliability, skill, and the pride of work done right. Away from work, he enjoyed fishing, and he carried with him the strength and determination first honed as a high school swimmer. Van was married for three decades, a testament to the devoted partnership he built and the love he faithfully sustained.
Van is survived by spouse, Vicki Erickson; daughter, Ilene Erickson Hinchey; grandsons, Harry Hinchey and Caiden Van Erickson; and nephews, Reb Brown and Erick Brown.
He was preceded in death by son, Charles Van Erickson; sister, Charlotte Bunny Brown; father, Bill Erickson; and mother, Leonore Erickson Hass.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lisle Funeral Home, 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA 93721, on October 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will follow at Washington Colony Cemetery, 7318 S Elm Ave, Fresno, CA 93706, on October 2, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
