Vera graduated from Edison High School and attended class at various times at both Fresno State and Fresno City College.
She worked for Fresno City Schools as an instructional aide for many years and taught German classes on Saturday mornings at the German Library/Museum (AHSGR). Additionally she taught for the German Youth Summer Camps at the library.
Vera directed and her husband, Donald J. Hills, played the accordian for the AHSGR German Choir.
Vera loved to sing and sang in church choirs and in a quartet called "The Blue Notes" for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald J. Hills, her parents Adam and Amalie Bischel, her brothers Edward and James Bischel, her sister Lillian Bischel Dinubilo, and her daughter Susan Hills Ivory.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Jane Hills, daughter Catherine Hills Menton, grandchildren Benjamin, Matthew (Courtney), John (Brenda), Alexander (Skyler), and great-grandchildren, Ava Jane and Nova Lyn.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Fresno Memorial Gardens 175 S. Cornelia Avenue, Fresno, CA 93706.
