Born on June 12, 1933, in Madera, California, to Nick and Evangelina Arzate, Vera lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and community.
After earning her associate’s degree, Vera built a life grounded in love and service. She was a gifted cook and a passionate host who believed in the power of food to bring people together. Alongside her sister Ana Marie Arzate, she co-owned Mama Lina's Taqueria, a beloved local restaurant that became a hub of tradition, comfort, and connection.

Vera was a devoted mother to five sons: Jaime Rodarte, Javier Rodarte, Greg Rodarte, Carlos Rodarte, and Mark Rodarte; and a loving mother-in-law to Christine Rodarte. She was the proud grandmother of Monique Rodarte Johnson, Xavier Rodarte, Bryan Rodarte, and Natalie Rodarte; and cherished great-grandmother to Oliver and Alexander Rodarte; Gabriella Rodarte; Elouise Johnson; Myriam Johnson; and Juliette Rodarte. She is also survived by her dear sister Ana Marie Arzate.
