

Vincent John Kliegl was born on a farm in Northern Palo Alto County, Iowa where he was raised on a farm near Emmetsburg, Ia. He went to a Catholic Grammar School, but graduated from Garfield High School near Webb, Ia.
He entered the Army in February 1941 but was injured on maneuvers in early 1942 and was given a medical discharge in 1943. Vincent met Nana, Ruth in December 1943 and was married April 25, 1944.
He went to college with the GI Bill in fall of 1944 and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science and with his Iowa teachers credential, he taught for five years in Iowa then moved to Fresno in 1953 and was em- ployed at San Joaquin Memorial Catholic High School. Where he stayed for 34 years until he retired. He took classes at Fresno State University and received a life time unrestricted teaching credential for high school. He had the high school year book dedicated to him in 1964 and that same year YMI named him Man of the Year.
In 1969 he was awarded the Bene- menturi Medal by Pope John Paul II. In 2006 he was honored by being installed in the San Joaquin Memorial Athletic Hall of Fame.
He was Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.
Vincent was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, who passed away in December 2006.
He is survived by his five children, John from Grants Pass, Or., James from Lindsay, Ca., Jerald from Prescott, Az., Jeanne Bryan from Madera, Ca., and Julie from Fresno; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
