As someone whose first word was “hagit” for hotdog, Wayne certainly loved his hotdogs and Tab soda. Growing up in Albion, Michigan near an airport, Wayne grew an affinity for planes and radios. With a Tab in hand, he joined the U.S. Navy out of high school to become a signalman and worked with radios on several naval ships. We would often joke that he felt like a “U-2 sailor” as in “you too sailor! Get back to work!”
This experience shaped his desire to continue work that would help others. He went on to work as a security guard, police officer, 911 operator, and field representative for the CCPOA.
As a proud Michigan man transplanted in Central California, you could find him with a hotdog in hand every fall rooting for the Detroit Lions to not “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.” He would often finish those games off by announcing that he had to “answer the call” and would go onto play Call of Duty or World of Warships.
He enjoyed his time in the NCWA with the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues teaching children through living history and built strong and lasting friendships within the group. He also built community within Lord of Life and then Trinity Lutheran church that he deeply cherished.
Wayne is survived by his spouse, Doni Truax; his children, Jeremy Truax, Aarron Truax (Jessica Truax), Brittany Visciglio (Alexander Visciglio), Duane Truax, and Sebastian Truax; his mother-in-law, Gloria J Sahm; his niece, Tabitha Truax; his brother, Terry Truax; his sister, Gale Vick; his grandchildren, Devin Johnson, Audrey Truax, Sophia Giovannoni, Leonardo Giovannoni, Phoenix Truax, Rose Truax, Malachi Truax, Lily Truax, Brynin Brown, Monte Brown, and Samantha Clevenger; and his great-grandchildren, Lianova Romero, Emma Brown, and Jasper Brown.
