William McTavish

May 28, 1933 – August 31, 2020
Obituary of William McTavish
IN THE CARE OF

Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home

William "Bill" McTavish was born on May 28, 1933 in Bronx, New York. He was the only child of William

and Dorothy McTavish. Bill went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2020.

He attended Alfred University majoring in marketing and accounting until joining the Marine Corps for a

three year enlistment. He received an honorable discharge with rank of Sergeant. He returned to

Westfield, N.Y where he spent twenty two years in marketing, sales and advertising.

In 1973 he moved to Fresno, CA and continued his career in marketing and sales until entering the

insurance field in 1978. Bill was an independent broker handling group health insurance.

In New York, Bill was active in Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, and scouting where he saw seven

young men raised to Eagle Scout. In Fresno, he was an active member of Fresno Host Lions Club, the

Scottish Society of Central California and the Marine Corps League Detachment 14.

Bill was an avid deep sea fisherman enjoying trips out of Monterey and Moss Landing as well as long

range trips out of San Diego. He loved nothing more than sharing the catch.

Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy, their son Andrew, Bill's daughter Leslie Ann and four

grandchildren.

Remembrances can be sent to Marine Corps League Detachment 14 (to benefit their scholarship

program)
