Al fell in love with his sweetheart, Janet Tannous, in the summer of 1966, when he stopped to help her after she had gotten into a car accident. They were married December 2, 1967, and shared nearly 54 wonderfully blessed years of marriage.
Al has had several careers in his lifetime. Beginning in construction, Al soon followed his father, Jesse, as a master electrician. This led to owning his own electrical contracting company, The Rhema Company. Additionally, he was a co-owner of several successful leather stores called, The Leather Craftsman. Following his daughter and her family to Texas, Al began his most exciting adventure working as a Senior Estimator/National Electrical Projects Manager with Schneider Electric. At the age of 73, he was just getting started on his rise to the pinnacle of his career. He truly loved working for Schneider.
He faithfully served Grace Christian Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan for 24 years, in a variety of positions. Upon his arrival in Texas, Al began attending Pastor Don Clowers church now Experienced Life Church in Carrollton, TX and faithfully served there for the next 13-years, up until the time of his death. His devotion will forever be missed. To him, his biggest ministry; however, was being a supporter and encourager to his wife, Janet, in her ministry endeavors over the years. He was her number 1 supporter.
To know Al was to know his passions - his devotion to his queen, Jan, his pride in his daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren, his drive for excellence, his warm-hearted affection, and his fervent love for his Lord Jesus. The fire of Al's passions ignited similar passions in all who were around him. Most of all, he will be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor, willingness to always help, and how he genuinely tried to make everyone he knew feel important and valued. His love for people cast a wide network that extended to everyone he encountered. He was loved by so many and his absence will be deeply felt.
Al is survived by; his loving wife, Janet; and his daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Jack, along with his three grandchildren, Max, Alex, and Kennedy; and his twin sister, Barbara, and brother, Douglas; and a big extended family of brother and sister in laws, nieces, and nephews.
