Allen was a devoted husband, father and loyal friend who lived life with purpose and joy. He was married to his wife, Kari, for 25 years, and together they raised two children, Connor Ryan and McKenna Grace, whom he loved deeply and was endlessly proud of. Allen coached several of Connor’s baseball and football teams, taking pride in being an encouraging presence on and off the field. He discovered running in his 20’s and embraced it fully, maintaining his commitment for decades. Even when his illness made running no longer possible, his determination didn’t waver-he transitioned to a stationary bike and kept moving. He cherished time with his family and friends, whether it was a relaxing day at home or on vacation. Allen built and nurtured lifelong friendships which he continued to maintain over the years. Professionally, he built a successful career in sales at Nestle before launching his own energy brokerage, which he maintained for 15 years. Through every chapter, Allen remained positive, patient, productive and persistent-qualities that defined not just how he faced adversity, but how he lived each day.
Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Mackie Smith. He is survived by his father, Alvin Doyle Smith; his loving wife, Kari; his children, Connor and McKenna; his brother, Eric Smith and his wife, Lisa; his sister, Rhonda Adcock Hatley; and his nieces, Erica Geter, Lea Rossorelli, and Shelby Wooden. He is also survived by his in-laws: Raymond and Mary Ann Zimmermann, and Annie and Ron Gordon, along with his lifelong best friend, Daniel Ramirez.
