Alyce McCord was born in Hoxie, Kansas, on August 7, 1933. Her parents were farmers at the time. Alyce showed an early talent for singing and was a soloist beginning in junior high and became a singer in a band in high school. Her favorite song to sing was Ave Maria. Alyce married a handsome sailor, Virgil D. McCord (Mac), on May 4, 1951. While he was away at sea during the Korean War, she had her first child, Kathryn Lynn McCord, and after he returned, her second, Michael David McCord. She traveled the world as a military wife and mother, landing in Fort Worth, Texas, where they retired. Alyce earned her Associates Degree at Tarrant County Community College in business and worked for a local bank. She will be noted as a cracker-jack bowler – and her teams can testify to such. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving daughter Kathryn (spouse Larry Day), son Michael (spouse Carol McCord); grandchildren Jason Cox (Diana), Kimberly Almond (Josh), Michael D. McCord (Molly), Michelle Waag (Jon); great grandchildren Jack Waag, Kylee Cox, and Riley Dunn.
