Beverly had three sisters, Shirley, Gladys, and Carol Jean. Beverly’s early childhood years were spent in Monrovia, CA and after the family moved a short distance, she spent the remainder of her youth in Pasadena in a small, two-bedroom, cottage home with lots of love and Swedish traditions.
Beverly attended Pasadena High School, and upon graduation began attending Pasadena City College. She dated, then married the love of her life, U.S. Marine Private First-Class, Herbert Martin Lee on June 30, 1945. The two lived in San Diego, Pasadena and then in El Monte. May 29, 1948, they witnessed the birth of their first daughter, Sharon Louise. Following was a son, Jeffrey Martin on September 3, 1952; a son, Brian Herbert on April 25, 1956; and a daughter, Jennifer Ann on May 11, 1960.
In 1961, Beverly and Herb moved to Monrovia where they lived for the next 30 years. After 35 years of working as an accounting auditor with Sears, Beverly and Herb retired to Boulder City, Nevada. The move allowed them to be close to Beverly’s sister, Gladys Owen and her husband, Howard. The two moved back to Southern California to Glendora, where after the passing of her loving and caring husband of 61 years, Herbert, Beverly moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to live with her daughter Jennifer, and her family. In late 2014, Beverly moved with Jennifer and Mike to Frisco, Texas, a suburb of North Dallas area.
Beverly loved the Lord. She grew up attending Pasadena Evangelical Mission Covenant Church where services were held in both Swedish and English. While living in El Monte, Herbert and Beverly attended a Billy Graham Crusade meeting in Los Angeles, and it is there where they both dedicated their lives completely to our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Beverly and Herbert became founding and charter members of the Monrovia Covenant Church and for many years, Beverly served devotedly in the church’s nursery. In the 70’s when the Monrovia Covenant Church merged with the Village Covenant Church in Azusa, Beverly, Herbert, and the family became members there. Although she maintained her membership at Village Covenant until she passed, she regularly attended church while living in Boulder City, Edmond and Frisco.
Much of family life revolved around family and friends at Evangelical Covenant Church on Sunday’s and during the week at church, occasional potlucks, picnics in the park, pool parties at their home in Monrovia, or other church activities. Beverly loved to spend time at the Alpine Camp and Conference Center in Blue Jay, CA where the family enjoyed the camp’s very first opening Family Bible Camp in 1956. Beverly left a reputation at Alpine for being fun-loving and even a bit of a prankster. Beverly loved her friends from the Covenant Church dearly. Many summer vacations were spent with the families of these friends camping in Yosemite, the Sequoia’s, at Lake Mead, and while staying at the beach. Later in life, Beverly and Herb enjoyed going on cruises and other trips with these friends as well.
Beverly Lee went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2015. She passed quietly in her sleep while at home and surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was greeted in Heaven by her husband Herb and daughter Sharon. She was also preceded by her father Oscar and mother Marie, and two of her sisters, Shirley and Gladys.
