Charles Kwadwo Okai Kwakye made his triumphant transition into glory on September 7, 2025, with his eyes lifted toward Heaven. Surely, the angels rejoiced at his arrival. He departed this life just weeks after celebrating his 51st birthday, surrounded in spirit by family and loved ones who continue to walk with him in memory and love.
Charles touched countless lives through his infectious sense of humor, warm heart, deep curiosity, and unwavering faith in God. A generous friend with a remarkable ability to connect with anyone he met, he left an enduring impact wherever he went.
Born on July 29, 1974, in Accra, Ghana, to the late Samuel Kwakye and Lydia Boamah, Charles spent his early years in Nkwatia Kwahu, where he attended Saint Peter’s Catholic School. There, he distinguished himself as a star athlete in track and field, a gifted student, and a talented artist.
At a young age, Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His passion for the Gospel led him to begin evangelizing during his school years alongside a group of close friends-Pastors Alvin Asiamah, David Antwi, and James Nanjo.
This calling eventually brought him into ministry with Reverend Robert Ampiah Kwofi, General Overseer of Global Revival Ministries and President of The Ampiah-Kwofi World Outreach in Accra. Charles faithfully served in local gatherings and crusades, contributing through prayer and exhortation. Later, he joined the ministry of Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International. Charles served under the Archbishop in Ghana for more than five years, where his dedication and spiritual maturity opened further doors of opportunity. In August 2000, through a connection facilitated by Archbishop Duncan-Williams, Charles was awarded an academic scholarship by Dr. Richard Roberts—Chairman and CEO of Oral Roberts Ministries—to attend Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Pastor Kibby and Lady Elsie Otoo, and Pastor Solomon Ofori Ansah. He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. While at ORU, Charles met his future wife, Brandy Thomas. They became inseparable in their sophomore year. The two were married just one week after graduation, on May 8, 2004. It was often joked that the two married and moved to the East Coast all in the span of a week. They began serving in ministry as Youth Pastor’s and later he as one of the Assistant Pastor’s at Action Worship Center in Laurel, Maryland, where he ministered for over four years. The couple moved to Reston, Virginia and were blessed with two children, Nathan Prince and Rachel Ampomah.
Since 2016, Charles made his home in Frisco, Texas. He built a successful career as a respected Senior Network Engineer, a role he held for more than 16 years between two companies-Beacon Health and ViaPath Technologies. He was known for his meticulous work and innovative problem-solving.
Charles will be remembered for his deep faith, kind spirit, and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind in his wife Brandy of twenty-one years, two children Nathan and Rachel, brothers and sisters-Stella Owusu, Obeng Kwakye, Monica Amanua, Felix Kwakye, Lawrence Kwakye, Lydia Kwakye, Cynthia Kwakye, Frederik Agyare, Victoria Owusu, Daniel Kwakye, Agnes Kwakye, Stephen Kwakye, Michael Kwakye, Alex Kwakye, Erick Kwakye, Emmanuel Kwakye, Samuel Kwakye, Ghana relatives, Action Chapel family, Thomas and Hines family, Combs and Evans family, ORU friends and alumni, neighbors, co-workers, and all those fortunate enough to know him.
