Cody Don Weightman was born on April 25, 1966, in Amarillo, Texas, to Roy and Patricia Manning Weightman. He passed away on October 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty that will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
A proud graduate of Palo Duro High School, Class of 1984, Cody went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy for five years. After his service, he returned home to pursue his passion for helping others, earning his associate degree in Nursing from Amarillo College. For 24 years, Cody devoted himself to caring for others as a Registered Nurse—a career that perfectly reflected his compassion, steadiness, and heart for service.
In 2017, Cody followed another dream and founded his own business, Providence Property Inspections, combining his eye for detail with his drive for excellence.
Cody’s life was rich with simple joys and meaningful moments. He loved woodworking, father–daughter dates, a good cigar paired with a glass of whiskey, and the timeless charm of James Bond and Elvis Presley—where he found inspiration for his beloved daughter’s name, Presley. His favorite song, “One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)” by Frank Sinatra, seemed to capture his appreciation for nostalgia and storytelling.
He never tired of watching Ted Lasso, and he could always be counted on for great conversation over street tacos or a perfectly cooked steak. A loyal fan through thick and thin, Cody stood proudly by the Dallas Cowboys, cheered for the University of Texas, and rooted for his San Diego Padres—always true to his teams to the very end.
Cody was preceded in death by his father, Roy D. Weightman, and his grandparents, Edwin “Reece” Manning, Donna J. Manning, Roy H. Weightman, and Dorothy Weightman.
He is survived by what he called “the best thing he ever did”—his cherished daughter Presley Rene Grace Weightman, and his “daughter-in-love” Kathleen Vandever; his loving mother Patricia Weightman; his sister and brother Dayna and PJ Vinyard; nephews Weston (Kaitlyn) Bolton and their children, Reece (Michaela) Bolton and their children; and his best friends Kenny Williams and Douglas Taylor.
Cody lived with purpose, led with heart, and loved deeply. His laughter, kindness, and steadfast loyalty will continue to echo in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date in Amarillo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite organization in Cody’s memory.
