Dale LaChaussée was born in Port Arthur, TX on March 5, 1928 to Andrew and Adela Sellers LaChaussée. He was the third of five children. He graduated from St James School in 1945 at the age of 17 and enrolled in Lamar College where he completed a summer program. In the Fall of 1945, he enlisted in the US Navy and was assigned to the Construction Battalion or CB’s and was deployed to the island of Attu in the Aleutian chain. The CB’s were there to repair and rebuild the Naval and Air bases used during the war. Upon being discharged, he returned home and began the pursuit of his passion for all forms of artistic expression, eventually gaining a degree in Home Economics/Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin in 1957. With his design skills, he enjoyed a long career with Sears as a display manager working in many of their retail outlets. From 2015 until 2025, Dale lived with his brother, Mike, and his wife, Janis, in Weston, TX.
Dale is survived by his brother, Mike LaChausse and his wife Janis; NIECES: Kate Lachausse, Toni Butschek Williamson and husband Sam, Jill Butschek, Dawn DeKerlegand Daley, Shelly LaChausse Krizmanic and husband Jim, Tami LaChausse Ausenbaugh and husband Bryan; NEPHEWS: Mark Butschek and wife Barbe, Dean DeKerlegand and wife Diane, Darron LaChausse and wife Velma, Dirk DeKerlegand and wife Jennifer, and many, many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
