Dan Lee Godfrey

Dan was a dedicated professional who built a successful career in accounting and construction management. He began his career as a staff accountant with IMCO and went on to work with Balfour Beatty, Mastec, Lendlease, and VCC Construction. Through his hard work, dedication, and natural leadership, Dan rose to the position of Chief Financial Officer, a role he proudly held with each of his final three companies. He was respected not only for his professional abilities, but also for the integrity, commitment, and care he brought to everything he did.

But Dan was so much more than his career. Those who knew him will remember a man who truly never met a stranger. He had a generous heart, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Dan loved to make people laugh, and his easygoing personality had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome and comfortable. He had a gift for turning acquaintances into friends and ordinary moments into memories.

Dan and Ruth first met as students at the University of Texas and shared 26 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. They loved to travel and explore new places together, with Hawaii holding a particularly special place in their hearts. Their most recent trip was to Oahu in July 2026, where they enjoyed one more special adventure together—one that Ruth will forever treasure.

In recent years, Dan discovered another source of great joy in his red Jeep and the wonderful community that came with it. He and Ruth participated in two July 4th parades celebrating America’s 250th birthday, creating memories they shared together. Most recently, Dan made the journey from Dallas to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to attend a Jeep Invasion. True to the spirit of the Jeep community, he enjoyed meeting people from across the country, sharing stories, and even returning home with the traditional ducks placed in his Jeep. It was a hobby that brought Dan not only adventure, but also new friendships and plenty of reasons to smile.

Above all else, Dan cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Ruth, a loving father to Amanda, and a caring brother to Kim, Kathy, and David. He took great pride in providing for and caring for those he loved. His family knew they could count on him, and his love and devotion were evident in the countless ways he supported and cared for them throughout his life.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth; his daughter, Amanda; and his siblings, Kim, Kathy, and David. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Dan’s family takes comfort in their faith and in the knowledge that he is now at peace in the loving arms of Jesus. Though his time with them was far too short, the life he lived was filled with love, laughter, hard work, adventure, and devotion to the people who mattered most.

His memory will live on in the stories shared around the table, the laughter he inspired, the adventures he enjoyed, the friendships he made, and, most of all, in the hearts of those who were blessed to love him. Dan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, humor, and love—a legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched.
