Danilo “Danny” Torres Coronel passed away on July 15, 2024 in Frisco, Texas. He was born on December 16, 1948, in Manila, Philippines to Regalada Coronel & Fred Asuncion. Danny was loved by so many relatives that cared for him throughout his childhood. He attended schools in Caloocan City and Angeles City in the Philippines. He completed his 2nd year of college at Pamantasan Ng Maynila.
After coming to the United States, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and fought for his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also served in tours of duty as a Cargo Specialist in Germany, Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska to name a few. After leaving the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant NCO he went on to work at the US Postal Service Mail as a clerk and carrier.
Danny is a quiet, gentle family man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who was generous, calm, friendly, soft-spoken, loved people and talking to strangers. He enjoyed taking pictures with people even though he might never see them again. He loved to travel and collect souvenirs wherever he went (including hats and t-shirts). Danny enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, especially with his one and only grandson, Nico. Danny adored Nico with passion and commitment just as he cherished all of his loving family.
He was an excellent big brother to his siblings, Cynthia and Patrick. Danny loved his brother and sister unconditionally and supported them in any way possible. He was also a jokester, known for his Dad jokes, and even funnier pranks (like swapping his sister’s soda pop bottle for a ketchup bottle!) He would sing and bring joy to his family in every facet of life.
He would do ANYTHING for his grandson Nico (snuggling with Nico at night, buying toys that Nico wanted, helping Nico with spelling and math homework, even attending Nico’s school activities). He cherished and loved Nico with ALL his heart and attention. Danny and Nico were best buddies and they always looked out for each other.
He loved watching movies and TV, especially action/adventure, military, detective, and game shows. He could be found highlighting and reading his trusty TV Guide with other shows like M*A*S*H, Twilight Zone, Star Trek. A fond memory of his only daughter, Melissa “Mel” is watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune every day and playing LOTS of Nintendo, especially Contra, Jackal and lots of military shoot ‘em up games. He was also a beloved Dallas Cowboys fan (and even attended the Super Bowl in Dallas). He enjoyed Jazz music, especially Girl from Ipanema, visiting military museums and air shows, and collecting rocks from different places. His home is filled with so many wonderful rocks in the front yard which his family will enjoy forever.
Danny is preceded in death by his Mother, Regalada Fenton; Step-Father, William Fenton; Brother, Patrick Fenton; and numerous Aunties & Uncles in the Philippines.
