David Patrick Sarsfield (Dave, Sarsy, Sars, Babes) age 51, of Frisco, Texas passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, just two weeks short of his 52nd birthday which he would have loved to celebrate with his 14-year old son Dane, and his many friends near and far.
David was born February 18, 1970, the youngest son of Cynthia Louise Sarsfield and the late William F. Sarsfield, Jr. (d. 1987). He learned to make the most of his time on earth from his parents and his older brothers, William (Bill) F. Sarsfield, III (Kim) and Steven A. Sarsfield. The family relocated to Connecticut shortly after his birth in Minneapolis, MN. Dave spent the tender years of his childhood in Monroe and Ridgefield, tagging along with his brothers, running around yards, sports fields, and their backyard woods,
while learning the ins and outs of hunting and fishing from his dad.
But Wisconsin is the place David called home. When he was 8, the family moved to Nashotah where David found his own identity as a fun-loving young man and a comedian to his friends - likely because he possessed an adult-like charisma. During his years at Hartland Arrowhead High School, Dave’s soccer abilities led to many life-long friendships. The family spent quality time on nearby lakes and landscapes fishing, ice fishing and bow hunting. His Wisconsin years also gave rise to a lifelong passion for all cheesehead sports teams - especially his beloved Green Bay Packers. David’s larger than life personality led to success in local sales associate positions, including several years at Mike Crivello’s Cameras in Brookfield, Wisconsin. In addition, patrons of several Milwaukee area taverns and restaurants also enjoyed his “creative” conversation and bartending talents.
Life took David west to Colorado, where he started his long career in internet security at MXLogic, now McAfee, and where his son Dane was born. That profession led him and his family to Texas with McAfee, where his career continued to grow. Dave ascended to become the director of SMB inside sales. A former colleague remembers, “It would be unimaginable to walk the floors of McAfee Plano, Texas and not hear, interact, inspire or laugh with Sarsy.” Sarsy had recently transitioned to a new position as a Business Development Manager at Crowd Strike. He was known to open his home for gatherings and would “take the shirt off his back” for those he cared about. That same colleague noted “His heart was as big as the state of Wisconsin.” In Texas he found a new passion for riding Harleys. On his bike, Dave loved donning the gear and using his stature to make an intimidating first impression - until you met the kind and loving man behind the black leather.
David’s biggest achievement continues to be his brilliant and talented son Dane (14) of Frisco, TX, as well as Dane’s older half-brother Nicholas Schmidlkofer (27) of Grafton, WI. Surviving immediate family members include his mom, whom he often called “Ma,” Cindy Sarsfield of Oconomowoc, WI, older brothers Bill Sarsfield of Carmel, IN, and Steve Sarsfield of Eagle, WI. David proudly called 29-year old Tyler Sarsfield (Olivia) and Trevor Sarsfield, 26, his nephews, with whom he often talked English Premier League soccer and his favorite team, Liverpool. The family also wishes to acknowledge the kindness and generosity of the Burleson family during this transitional time for Dane.
David wanted a party, so he’ll have not one, but two. Following a memorial service on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX (75033), join family and friends at II Brothers Grill & Pub, 8308 Preston Road, #198, in Plano, TX to send Dave off in the way he wanted - with laughter, stories, friendship and “a coupla cocktails.” Wisconsin friends will be doing the same on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Weissgerber’s Golden Mast Inn on Okauchee Lake from 4-7 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to Dane’s GoFundMe page here: Fundraiser by Madison Medrano Antweil : Friends of David Sarsfield for Dane Sarsfield (gofundme.com) or to your favorite charity supporting children who have lost a parent or parents.
